One man dead after shooting in Coquitlam Sunday night, IHIT called in – BC | 24CA News
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been referred to as in after after a person was shot and killed in Coquitlam Sunday night time round 9:20 p.m.
The scene is situated simply north of the Lougheed Shopping Centre alongside the border between Burnaby and Coquitlam round Foster Avenue and North Road.
“Officers located a man suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately began lifesaving measures,” Coquitlam RCMP mentioned in an announcement.
“The man later succumbed to their injuries on scene,” RCMP added.
“The investigation is in the evidence gathering phase. This shooting is believed to be an isolated incident.”
Police haven’t mentioned if this capturing is related to ongoing gang exercise throughout B.C.
Footage from the scene reveals a number of police automobiles close to a condominium constructing with ambulances on scene.
Witnesses tells Global News they heard a number of photographs round 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
“I thought they were fireworks because yesterday was Canada Day and I thought people were just celebrating. Then the cops pulled up,” witness Vedant Jain instructed Global News.
Mounties say Coquitlam RCMP Victim Services is engaged.
