More particulars are coming to mild concerning the off-duty Surrey Police Service constable who took his personal life at a Langley, B.C., gun vary Wednesday. Witnesses included cops.
Twenty-six-year-old Dilbag “Dylan” Hothi beforehand served within the navy and labored as a Surrey RCMP officer, Surrey Police Service confirmed.
SPS Media Liaison Ian MacDonald informed Global News Hothi had been off-duty since final August, suspended with pay and below investigation for breach of belief.

“It was a breach of trust investigation that was being fronted by the Surrey RCMP and was working its way through BC Prosecution Service,” MacDonald stated.
Ron MacDonald with the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO) says the incident could also be linked to prison allegations towards Hothi.
The IIO known as in every time police are concerned in an incident whereby their motion or inaction ends in damage or demise.

“Those are the types of facts we’re looking at and trying to determine,” MacDonald informed Global News.
“We understand that police were there in response to the incident that the individual was involved in, perhaps prior to that incident occurring, but we’re not sure what if any interaction there was between police and this individual.”

Surrey RCMP aren’t sharing particulars about their breach of belief investigation into Hothi, nor will they affirm he was about to be charged.
Other associated courtroom paperwork are sealed.
However, Langley RCMP did affirm Wednesday they had been dispatched to “The Range Langley” for a person in misery.
Sources inform Global News Hothi was not in possession of his service revolver. It’s unclear if he had a private weapon.
Also unknown is that if a current danger evaluation was finished on officer Hothi, to find out psychological well being or security issues.
