A Nova Scotia wildfire is burning uncontrolled and shortly spreading throughout the southwestern tip of the province, with officers saying the arrival of sizzling, dry circumstances is intensifying the blaze.

A spokesperson with the province’s Department of Natural Resources says the Shelburne County hearth “escaped containment” on Saturday night time, rising to about 775 hectares.

Patricia Jreige says there’s a rising group of firefighters, air tankers and helicopters battling the flames, however dry, sizzling and windy climate is making hearth suppression difficult.

She says no less than one distant cabin within the Barrington Lake space has been destroyed whereas the situation of others is unknown.

Jreige says a dozen properties within the hearth’s path have been evacuated final night time, and though some residents are returning they might be requested to depart once more.
