Bike Regina advocates for a greater biking setting within the metropolis to make it simpler for cyclists to get round city, however one of many boundaries is having a protected place to lock up your bike.

“We thought we would try to manufacture some racks and we got a deal with Regina Downtown BID to make 20 racks,” mentioned Brandon Wright, Bike Regina board member. “We contacted Sask. Polytech to help us with that.”

Wright says they had been first approached by Regina Downtown Business Improvement District (RDBID) for his or her eleventh Avenue rehabilitation venture.

“We reached out to Sask. Polytech knowing they have a welding program, and (we) formed a partnership where they have the students fabricate these racks for us in their shop,” mentioned Wright. “I believe 13 students worked on the rack fabrication last fall and they fabricated 30 racks in total.”
