N.S. Department of Labour investigates workplace death in Dartmouth – Halifax | 24CA News

Nova Scotia’s Department of Labour is investigating the latest loss of life of a employee in Dartmouth.

In a press release, spokesperson Monica MacLean mentioned officers with the division’s security department and emergency crews responded to a security incident at a worksite in Dartmouth on Wednesday.

One worker died and one other was injured, MacLean mentioned. They have been each staff of Ocean Contractors Ltd.

“We extend our sincere sympathies to everyone who has been impacted by this tragedy and our condolences to the family of the worker who died as a result of this incident,” MacLean mentioned.

“The Department is reaching out to the families to support them during this difficult time and will do so throughout the investigation process.”

MacLean mentioned two stop-work orders have been issued and the office investigation is ongoing.

She mentioned the division can’t launch additional details about the incident or the employees since that is an energetic investigation.

Ocean Contractors couldn’t instantly be reached for remark Saturday.
