Lynx Air never gets the chance to take off in Regina after ceasing operations  | 24CA News

Lynx Air launched in April of 2022, with flights going to Canada, the United States and Mexico.

The airline grew in fleets and locations, and simply when the Regina International Airport thought it had a further set of flights to supply, Lynx airplanes have been grounded.

“We were looking forward to having a new ultra-low-cost carrier in our market,” James Bogusz, the Regina International Airport president, stated Friday.

Lynx was set to supply six weekly flights out and in of Regina to Vancouver and Toronto.

This week, Lynx introduced it obtained an order for creditor safety from the Court of King’s Bench in Alberta.

Bogusz stated the news was surprising for airports throughout the nation.

“This news was a big surprise for all of us in the industry,” Bogusz stated. “Lynx has been making lots of incredible announcements across Canada.”

Regina Mayor Sandra Masters stays optimistic for the way forward for Regina’s airport, with WestJet asserting direct flights to Minneapolis, and their connections throughout North America.

“Our airport accounts for, like, $800 million in terms of economic impact in our city so anything that restricts air travel is problematic,” Masters stated on the Lynx closure.

Passengers with current bookings are being advised to contact their bank card supplier for a refund. Canadian Air Passenger Rights president Gábor Lukács says it isn’t one thing to fret about, as he says the patron safety regulation requires that bookings carried out beneath a bank card be refunded.

Lynx Air ceases operations on Monday, Feb. 25.
