Liquor & Lotteries to close 10 more locations amid strike – Winnipeg | 24CA News

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries will shutter 10 extra liquor mart places till additional discover Tuesday morning, the Crown company introduced Monday afternoon.

Beginning at 8 a.m. the places in Dauphin, Gimli, Selkirk, Steinbach and Stonewall will likely be closed. In Winnipeg, the Fort Richmond, Main & Jefferson, Portage & Burnell, River & Osborne and Sage Creek places will likely be closed.

This comes after a number of, indefinite retailer closures over the August Long Weekend and the closure of all Liquor Mart Express places in Winnipeg amid strike motion by MGEU-represented liquor staff.

“MBLL must reduce the number of Liquor Marts open for business to ensure we can effectively manage allocating limited inventory to the remaining open locations,” liquor and lotteries stated in a news launch.

Part of strike motion consists of not taking stock or restocking cabinets, one thing the Crown company says makes it troublesome to maintain all places open.

On Friday, MGEU president Kyle Ross, who represents placing liquor staff, known as the choice to lock out shops an “unfortunate situation” as either side proceed to work towards a decision of the continuing strike.

The MBLL’s media launch stated many places will nonetheless be open.
