Leaky irrigation line cause of small West Kelowna, B.C. mudslide – Okanagan | 24CA News
A house in West Kelowna, B.C., sustained minor harm, says town’s hearth division, from a small mudslide on Friday afternoon.
According to West Kelowna Fire Rescue (WKFR), the mudslide occurred in Casa Palmero Park, with some mud and water infiltrating the house’s storage.
WKFR mentioned the mudslide originated from above close by Hillsborough Road, the place a leaky irrigation line had been operating for a couple of days.
The ensuing water saturated the bottom, inflicting among the steep slope to launch.
“The irrigation line has been isolated and the slope has been determined to be stable at this time,” mentioned the fireplace division, noting “no structural damage has been noted.”
“Just a small amount of water over time can add up,” mentioned Lionel Bateman, assistant hearth chief at WKFR. “The clay gets saturated, and then, with the steep slope, it ends up sloughing off.”
