A gaggle of Tri-Board Student Transportation Services employees is ready to strike as of Monday, April 3, if their proposal for a wage enhance will not be accepted.

CUPE native 1479, the union representing the seven employees, says six of the employees are transportation planners who’re “substantially underpaid” relative to their counterparts employed in different elements of Ontario.

“Our transportation planners organize safe, reliable, and efficient transportation to and from school for more than 30,000 students, over 600 vehicles, covering a geographical area of over 16,000 square kilometres,” James added. “Their work is valuable and yet they are being paid 19 per cent less than the going rate for it.”

The union claims the price to settle the dispute to keep away from a disruptive strike is lower than $20,000 — or solely about $6,500 per college board.
