The City of Kingston says it has made “significant efforts and progress” in including extra low-barrier shelter choices.

A low-barrier shelter means necessities for entry are restricted or minimal for the individuals who want to keep there, the town says.

This comes on account of the town’s engagement with encampment residents residing close to Belle Park and the Integrated Care Hub.

“Ensuring there are more low-barrier shelter options has led to fewer people residing in the encampment,” mentioned Lanie Hurdle, the town’s chief administrative officer.
