Indigenous leaders say they do not accept Manitoba premier’s comments on landfill search – Winnipeg | 24CA News

Indigenous leaders say a search of a Winnipeg-area landfill for the stays of ladies might be carried out safely and should go forward.

They say they don’t settle for Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson’s feedback that the province won’t fund a search due to well being and security dangers to searchers.

Police imagine the stays of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran are within the privately run Prairie Green landfill north of Winnipeg.

A federally funded feasibility examine stated a search of the landfill is possible, though poisonous supplies and asbestos pose a danger to employees.

Grand Chief Cathy Merrick of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs says specialists have identified there are methods to guard employees.

Kris Dueck, a forensic guide who labored on the feasibility examine, says dangers might be mitigated and the search might be carried out safely.
