High-risk offender released in Calgary: CPS – Calgary | 24CA News

The Calgary Police Service says a high-risk offender was launched to the neighborhood Tuesday.

Daniel Christopher Leonard, 45, was launched after serving a 28-month sentence for sexual assault.

A press release from police despatched Tuesday warned that Leonard has a number of convictions for sexual assault, indecent acts and failing to adjust to probation which have resulted in jail time. Police say nearly all of his crimes occurred in Red Deer, Edmonton and Calgary, and he focused ladies he didn’t know.

Leonard will likely be carefully monitored by the Calgary Police Service High Risk Offender Program. He is described as 5 ft 11 inches tall, 195 kilos and bald with brown eyes.

“The Calgary Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of Leonard,” police mentioned in a news launch.

“Members of the public are advised that the intent of the process is to enable members of the public to take suitable precautionary measures and not to embark on any form of vigilante action.”

The Calgary Police Service High-Risk Offender Program (HROP) displays offenders who’ve been launched by the courts to the Calgary neighborhood and who’ve been decided to have a excessive threat to reoffend in a violent or sexual method, based on police. Officers use many components and various ways to make sure offenders are abiding by court-imposed situations to handle their threat to the neighborhood.
