Calgary’s oldest road get together is again in Marda Loop this Sunday with hundreds of attendees.
The Marda Gras Street Festival is the longest-running road pageant within the metropolis and it’s celebrating its thirty sixth birthday on Sunday.
This 12 months, tons of artisans, small companies and creators are taking the streets of Marda Loop to point out off their wares and companies. Dancers and musicians may also be performing and numerous teams are scheduled to point out off their musical expertise.
Festival supervisor Shannon McNally stated she is anticipating a complete of 40,000 folks to cease by the occasion this 12 months.
“It’s a local community event but it also draws a lot of people from all around the city for the uniqueness,” she informed Global News.
“There’s a huge neighbourhood feel here. Everybody knows one another. A lot of the businesses that own storefronts here also live in the neighbourhood, so it’s very well connected to the community.”

“Everyone wants to come together and celebrate a beautiful day in August. It’s the dog days of summer,” she stated.
