Brampton councillors approve personal fireworks ban – Toronto | 24CA News

Residents of Brampton, Ont. will now not be allowed to set off private fireworks after metropolis councillors authorized a suggestion for a ban following a surge in complaints.

The new ban, which was authorized by councillors throughout a late public assembly Monday evening, amends town’s present bylaw to instantly prohibit the use and sale of fireworks.

The movie business and city-run occasions are excluded from the ban.

Coun. Guratap Singh Toor, who seconded the movement, informed the assembly that councillors “heard loud and clear, even through the election campaign, about the issue.”

Until the movement handed Monday evening, solely short-range fireworks — ones that solely journey three metres — have been allowed on personal property in Brampton on Victoria Day, Canada Day, Diwali and New Year’s Eve.

None of the individuals who spoke at delegations previous to the vote have been in favour of the ban.
