A Toronto man died following a drowning incident within the space of the Trent River and Ranney Falls close to Campbellford, Ont., on Saturday night.

Northumberland OPP say round 5:20 p.m., officers responded to reviews of an individual who ho gave the impression to be in misery after leaping into the water.

Police had been knowledgeable the person then went underneath the water and did not resurface.

Members of the Trent Hills Fire Department and Northumberland EMS launched a search of the waterway, police stated.

Police say after about two hours, the physique of a 27-year-old man from Scarborough was situated. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

OPP say the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario was on scene to help with the investigation.
