On Thursday, the Ministry of Housing introduced that it and the town “are working together on plans to build a new long-term shelter for people experiencing homelessness in the community.”
The ministry mentioned the modular shelter could be positioned on a city-owned lot alongside the 300 block of Fraser Avenue NW, and that it might home 25 beds, together with providing each day meals and assist providers.
The ministry additionally mentioned the location was advised by the town, and that BC Housing is exploring a 10-year lease with an possibility to increase.
