A Vancouver Island man is repurposing damaged devices into work of artwork, reworking gadgets as soon as meant to please the ear into sculptures that deal with the attention.

Walker says his profession took off as soon as he introduced the brass part into his creations.
“There was a point about three to five years into it when I said, I really have something here,” Walker mentioned.
He’s advanced from making small, easy fountains to classy water-driven mechanics, studying the best way to craft all these steel elements into an inventive masterpiece on the fly.
“I go to antique stores and Value Village and I pick up brass and silver and solder them together,” Walker defined. “A lot of pieces aren’t meant to be soldered together.”
New concepts are arriving on a regular basis, with Walker drawing inspiration from one thing so simple as a weed after which respiratory new life into outdated wind devices.
“School bands have stuff in their storage closet taking up space that they don’t use anymore,” Walker mentioned.
He buys his supplies from a community of suppliers, together with a go-to restore store in Wisconsin.
“I can call them up and say I need ten trombones or I need three or four saxophones and he’ll box them,” he defined.
Walker has made shut to five,000 sculptures over the course of his 20-year profession, with gross sales and installations all around the world.
“I’ve gone from a craftsperson to what I would call someone working with fine art,” Walker mentioned. “This world really inspires me. I’m just so fortunate to see it that way.”
