Alberta government partners with Canmore to build affordable housing in the Bow Valley – Calgary | 24CA News
The Alberta authorities is partnering with the Town of Canmore to develop and construct extra inexpensive housing items for residents within the Bow Valley.
In a news launch on Monday morning, the province mentioned it’ll use 2.3-hectares of land between Palliser Trail and the Trans-Canada Highway to plan, design and approve an inexpensive housing venture.
According to the Alberta authorities, the land has an estimated worth of $8.7 million. It can be reserved for 3 years and transferred to the Town of Canmore to allow the event as soon as the design and planning section is completed.
The venture is a part of Alberta’s 10-year inexpensive housing technique Stronger Foundations. The technique guarantees to construct 250,000 extra inexpensive housing items throughout the province by 2031 by partnering with municipal governments and neighborhood organizations.
“Our government continues to show its commitment to making life more affordable for Albertans,” mentioned Community and Services Minister Jeremy Nixon in an announcement.
Canmore’s deputy mayor Tanya Foubert mentioned the venture will assist tackle the rising want for inexpensive housing within the Bow Valley space.
