WestJet Encore pilots reject tentative deal; airline says no impact on operations
The union representing WestJet Encore pilots says its members rejected the tentative deal reached final month, with simply over half voting the settlement down.
The union says regardless of enhancements to compensation and scheduling, the pilots wished to see extra motion from WestJet to handle ongoing points with pilot recruitment, retention and morale.
WestJet says it was disillusioned to be taught that pilots voted down what it calls a aggressive settlement inside Canada’s airline trade.
The airline says the outcomes of the ratification vote don’t influence operations.
Pilots with WestJet’s regional subsidiary permitted a strike mandate on April 2 by 97 per cent.
The union says the vote outcome exhibits pilots have a “deep-seated feeling” that the corporate is failing to acknowledge employees’ wants past compensation.
