Shopify CTO Allan Leinwand steps down for ‘personal reason,’ Lutke to take over R&D

Shopify Inc. says chief expertise officer Allan Leinwand shall be departing the corporate with chief government Tobi Lutke to tackle a few of his tasks.

In a press release from Leinwand offered by the Ottawa-based e-commerce large, he says he’s leaving Shopify for an unspecified “personal reason.”

Leinwand, as soon as a senior vice-president of engineering at Slack, spent 18 months at Shopify, taking on from Jean-Michel Lemieux, who left in 2021.

An announcement from Harley Finkelstein, Shopify’s president, says firm founder Lutke will now oversee analysis and improvement.

Lutke beforehand stepped in to takeover chief product officer Craig Miller’s tasks, when he left in 2020. At the time, Lutke mentioned there have been no plans to interchange Miller.

Leinwand’s departure comes after the corporate parted methods with a number of key workers together with chief monetary officer Amy Shapero, chief working officer Toby Shannan and chief expertise officer Brittany Forsyth through the pandemic.
