Postmedia to lay off 11 per cent of staff, sources say

Sources say newspaper writer Postmedia Network Corp. is shedding 11 per cent of its editorial employees.


Postmedia introduced the layoffs at a city corridor this afternoon.


The firm, which owns publications such because the National Post, Vancouver Sun and Edmonton Sun, employs roughly 650 journalists.


It says all properties inside its community might be affected.


The sources requested to not be recognized as they weren’t approved to publicly converse on the matter.


The job cuts come days after the corporate introduced it had bought the Calgary Herald constructing and would transfer a dozen of its Alberta neighborhood newspapers to digital-only codecs.
