Hudson’s Bay to shed 2% of corporate workforce amid ‘strategic realignment’
Hudson’s Bay is shedding two per cent of its whole workforce, estimated to be about 250 workers, largely inside Canada.
The firm says the layoffs will impression company roles at The Bay and Hudson’s Bay, the retailer’s on-line and brick-and-mortar operations, respectively.
Spokeswoman Tiffany Bourre says the modifications come because the retail sector navigates “significant external pressures.”
She says the corporate is “re-aligning its strategic priorities and increasing efficiencies within its operations.”
Bourre says the choice was not straightforward and the corporate is dedicated to treating everybody with equity and respect.
Hudson’s Bay completely laid off about 600 employees in Canada two years in the past amid prolonged COVID-19 lockdowns on non-essential retail.
