Hudson’s Bay cutting 250 corporate jobs amid efforts to ‘flatten the organization’
TORONTO –
Hudson’s Bay is shedding one other 250 employees, the second spherical of cutbacks this 12 months.
The Canadian retail arm of Hudson’s Bay Co. says the layoffs will influence company roles and brings the entire variety of staff laid off this 12 months to about 500.
None of the job losses have affected retail employees at Hudson’s Bay’s 84 shops throughout Canada.
Spokeswoman Tiffany Bourre says the corporate is taking “additional steps to flatten the organization and streamline operations” because the retail sector continues to face headwinds.
She says financial pressures within the retail trade have persevered longer than anticipated, making the second spherical of job losses obligatory.
Bourre says the corporate is dedicated to equity and respect because it helps its staff impacted by the layoff.
