Companies extend deadline to close Rogers-Shaw deal to Feb. 17
TORONTO –
The firms concerned within the Rogers Communications Inc. deal to purchase Shaw Communications have prolonged the deadline to finish the transaction.
Rogers, Shaw, the Shaw Family Living Trust and Quebecor Inc. say they’ve prolonged the deadline to Feb. 17 from Tuesday.
If authorised, the deal will see Rogers purchase Shaw, whereas Quebecor’s Videotron subsidiary will purchase Shaw’s Freedom Mobile wi-fi business.
The settlement continues to be ready for approval by Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne who should log out on the switch of wi-fi spectrum licenses from Shaw to Videotron.
The firms say they’re persevering with to work with the federal government to safe the ultimate approval wanted to shut the transactions.
The deal cleared a key hurdle final week after the Federal Court of Appeal dismissed a Competition Bureau request to overturn approval of the settlement by the Competition Tribunal.
