Canadian judoka Christa Deguchi gained the gold medal within the under-57-kilogram occasion Tuesday on the Masters Tournament.
Deguchi’s closing match towards Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Sarah Leonie Cysique went to extra time, when the French fighter forfeited as a result of a knee damage.
Deguchi, who was born in Nagano, Japan and trains in Lethbridge, Alta., wanted solely 26 seconds to dispatch of Pauline Starke of Germany within the second spherical after opening with a bye.

She defeated Tsukasa Yoshida of Japan within the quarterfinals and Mimi Huh of South Korea within the semis.
It’s Deguchi’s fourth gold medal of the 12 months after successful titles on the Grand Prix in Zagreb, Croatia, the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, and the Baku Judo Grand Slam.
“This was probably Christa’s best performance since she won the world championship in 2019,” coach Antoine Valois-Fortier stated.
