UCN has additionally introduced that Dr. Ramona Neckoway, a Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation (NCN) member who has served UCN as an assistant professor and because the chair of the Aboriginal Northern Studies program, will lead the brand new division.

Smith stated UCN believes that Neckoway, who has a background in Indigenous language analysis, is a “natural fit” to guide the division.

Neckoway stated she is worked up to tackle the brand new position and hopes the division will carry new and culturally related alternatives to Indigenous and non-Indigenous college students at UCN.

“As an Indigenous scholar from northern Manitoba, I embark on this new role with great humility, and I look forward to creating diverse and multifaceted opportunities,” Neckoway stated.
