North Vancouver woman pleads for stolen chicken’s return: ‘they stole a family member’  | 24CA News

A North Vancouver lady is talking out after two masked intruders stole a pet hen named Snowflake from her yard.

Lindi Smith has owned yard chickens ever since they have been legalized within the City of North Vancouver greater than a decade in the past.

Security digicam footage offered to Global News exhibits two shirtless, masked males breaking into Smith’s yard hen coop and taking Snowflake at round 3:30 a.m. on Saturday.

“They grabbed her by her legs, and she was flapping and squawking. She’s never been handled like that in her life,” mentioned Smith in an interview with Global News.

“I hope and pray that she’s still alive and that it wasn’t something disgusting, where they wanted to see what would happen giving it to a dog or torturing her in some way.”

She suspects Snowflake was stolen as a part of a highschool commencement prank.

“A lot of people from the community and teachers have been like ‘it’s the time of year.’ And whether it’s for releasing [the chicken] on a high school or some sort of car rally or scavenger hunt — it’s a living, breathing being. This isn’t vandalism. They stole a family member.”

Smith is now retaining the remainder of her chickens indoors in her lounge in the intervening time.

She suspects whoever took Snowflake is a member of the area people.

“If you didn’t live locally, you wouldn’t know they existed,” she says about her hen coop.

“Somebody knows something, and I hope that they can overcome the stigma of being the one that tells because Snowflake’s life is worth more than that.”

Global News reached out to North Vancouver RCMP for remark, however didn’t instantly hear again.
