TSB investigates incident at Medicine Hat airport | 24CA News
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating after a small plane was compelled to make an emergency touchdown on the Medicine Hat, Alta., airport round 11:35 a.m. on Thursday.
The TSB describes the aircraft as a Beech 55 plane, owned by Super T Aviation, a small business airline working out of the southeast Alberta group that provides constitution companies and flight coaching.
TSB investigator Mike Adam says the plane was on a coaching flight with a pilot and a flight teacher on board on the time of the incident.
He says upon returning to the airport the crew received a warning on board the plane that the touchdown gear on the nostril wasn’t locking in place.
Adam says they made a number of makes an attempt to manually lock it in place however have been unable to take action, in order that they have been compelled to make an emergency touchdown.
Upon touching down, the touchdown gear collapsed and the plane got here to relaxation on the runway.
Once on the bottom, the aircraft was met by emergency crews. Adam says there have been no accidents, though the plane did maintain some minor injury.
Darren Niccolls tells Global News the aircraft began circling over the airport round 10:45 a.m. Emergency crews responded about quarter-hour later and shut down entry to the airport.

The TSB says it’s not deploying an investigator to Medicine Hat however it is going to work with the airline, airport authority and first responders to research.
