Mohawk College expands student housing with off-campus residence in downtown Hamilton – Hamilton | 24CA News

Mohawk College is ready to open its first-ever off-campus residence to offset housing “availability challenges” in Hamilton.

The studying facility’s vice-president of company providers says the leased nine-storey constructing at 55 Catharine St. S. (at Jackson) downtown will create 150 models that may accommodate as many as 300 college students.

“It is an existing building previously used as a residence for international high school students,” Kim Watkins mentioned.

“Being vacant, it’s set up in an excellent format for it to be able to accommodate college students.”

Before the acquisition, Mohawk had only one residence on its Fennell campus.

The faculty basically now doubles its residence house.

Registration for the Mohawk College Linden Hall residence started this week and college students are anticipated to start transferring in on May 1, forward of the summer time semester begin date.
