Report: Red Sox RHP Lucas Giolito could miss 2024 season with elbow injury

New Boston Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito might miss the complete 2024 season on account of a partial tear in his elbow, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported Tuesday.

Giolito, 29, was Boston’s greatest addition over the winter when he agreed to a two-year, $38.9-million contract with Boston in free company. Now the Red Sox are making ready to play and not using a cornerstone of their rotation.

Giolito is an eight-year MLB veteran who spent most of his profession with the Chicago White Sox. In 2023, break up between the White Sox, Angels and Guardians, he made 33 begins and posted a 4.88 ERA with 204 strikeouts.

With Giolito out, the Red Sox will probably flip to free brokers Blake Snell or Jordan Montgomery to fill the outlet of their rotation.

The Red Sox completed final within the AL East in 2023 with a 78-84 document.
