Metro says it has reached tentative deal with union amid strike by grocery store workers
Metro says that it has reached a tentative cope with the union representing putting workers at 27 grocery shops across the Greater Toronto Area.
“The agreement, which is fair an equitable for our employees and our customers, is unanimously recommended by the union’s bargaining committee and will put an end to the labour dispute if ratified,” the corporate mentioned in an announcement Wednesday morning.
The tentative deal will likely be submitted to the staff, who’re represented by UNIFOR, for a ratification vote that may happen “shortly,” the corporate mentioned.
More than 3,700 staff at shops across the GTA have been on strike since July 29.
Some of the employees have mentioned that their wages have meant they’ll barely afford to purchase the meals being offered within the shops the place they work.
