Pope Francis turns 86, spends birthday giving awards for charity work – National | 24CA News

Pope Francis marked his 86th birthday on Saturday by rewarding three folks concerned in charity work, together with a homeless man who provides different avenue dwellers a part of the alms he receives.

At the ceremony, the pope kissed the homeless man’s hand and one of many nuns of the order based by Mother Teresa put a flower garland across the pope’s neck.

At a separate viewers, Rome seminarians introduced him with cake. No different explicit birthday celebrations have been deliberate.

Francis was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires in 1936. Next March, he’ll mark the tenth anniversary of his election as head of the 1.3 billion member Roman Catholic Church.
