Ukrainian newcomers’ artwork showcased by Calgary gallery – Calgary | 24CA News
A southeast Calgary artwork gallery is showcasing depictions of the atrocities in Ukraine, in addition to the journey out of the war-torn nation, from those that’ve skilled it firsthand.
An exhibit at The Collectors’ Gallery of Art in Inglewood consists of items from 10 Ukrainian artists — 9 who now dwell in Calgary and a photographer who stays in Ukraine — providing perception into the sentiments of leaving their homeland following the Russian invasion.
“It hits me in the heart. It really does,” mentioned Romana Kaspar-Kraft, proprietor of the The Collectors Gallery of Art. “There are some really sad stories but they show it through their art and many of them are quite happy paintings and uplifting.
“They have so much hope.”
Each piece within the assortment is on the market on the market, with all the proceeds benefiting the artists.
Other native artists have donated their work to the gallery for inclusion in a silent public sale supporting the Ukrainian artists.
The exhibition is scheduled to stay on show till Sept. 3.
