SIU drops investigation into officers’ involvement with man in distress – London | 24CA News
Ontario’s police watchdog has discontinued its investigation involving London, Ont., police officers and a 33-year-old man in misery.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says on Aug. 17, 2022, a lady known as police feeling involved for her husband’s wellbeing.
Officers discovered the person on the Highbury Avenue North bridge.
Police negotiated with the person for about 90 minutes earlier than he jumped from the bridge with a noose round his neck, the SIU says.
Officers reportedly lower the person down and paramedics took him to the hospital.
Director of the SIU, Joseph Martino, says the person didn’t endure a critical damage throughout the mandate of the SIU.
The case has been discontinued.
