The Quebec Superior Court has dominated that it could hear a problem to the appointment of Gov. Gen. Mary Simon, who isn’t fluent in French.
Several teams are searching for to have Simon’s appointment declared null and void as a result of they are saying the governor common is constitutionally required to speak in each official languages.
The lawyer common of Canada had argued that solely the Federal Court might hear the case.
But Justice Catherine Piché stated in her June ruling that the appointment of the governor common doesn’t fall inside one of many particular circumstances that may require the case be heard by the Federal Court.
François Boulianne, the lawyer for the teams difficult Simon’s appointment, says he expects the case to return to court docket within the fall.
