Collision on Skaha Lake in Okanagan claims life of Alberta girl, 14 | 24CA News
An extended-weekend outing within the Okanagan has turned tragic for a visiting household.
Penticton RCMP say two watercraft (jetskis) collided in the midst of Skaha Lake on Friday at round 8 p.m., and that 4 youths sustained severe accidents.
Police say the youths have been rescued and brought to Skaha Marina, the place two off-duty docs and personnel from B.C. Emergency Health Services tried life-saving measures earlier than all 4 have been rushed to hospital.
“Tragically, one of the victims, a 14-year-old female from Alberta, succumbed to her injuries at hospital,” stated RCMP Sgt. Paul Bentham.
“The three remaining youth have all been treated for non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released from hospital.”
Police say the household is being supported by RCMP sufferer providers and preparations are being made to help them in returning to Alberta.
