Lorenzen saves Phillies in solid 8-inning debut
They performed their longest sport of the season and the third-longest sport in baseball on Wednesday evening, a 4-hour, 6-minute affair that ended with a crushing 12-inning loss to Miami at loanDepot park. The Phillies used relievers they didn’t need to use, in order that they actually wanted to avoid just a few extra in Thursday afternoon’s collection finale.
They wanted Lorenzen to pitch successfully and deep in his Phillies’ debut.
He pitched eight innings. He allowed two runs. The Phillies gained, 4-2.
It was the primary time a pitcher threw eight or extra innings in his Phillies debut since Cliff Lee tossed a four-hit full sport in San Francisco on July 31, 2009.
