Halifax Wanderers player receives two-year ban following doping violation – Halifax | 24CA News

Halifax Wanderers rugby ahead Ludwig Amla has acquired a two-year ban from play following an anti-doping rule violation, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport introduced on Wednesday.

In a launch, the group, which handles administrative operations for the Canadian Anti-Doping Program, stated an in-competition urine pattern collected on September 10, 2022, revealed the presence of terbutaline.

Terbutaline is used medically to forestall and deal with wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness brought on by bronchial asthma, persistent bronchitis and emphysema.

It is on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s record of prohibited substances.

The two-year sanction was imposed on June 15 by Arbitrator Richard Pound and is slated to finish on February 7, 2025.

“During the sanction period, the athlete is ineligible to participate in any capacity with any sport signatory to the CADP, including training with teammates,” the discharge states.

Amla, who was born in Denmark however spent most of his developmental enjoying years in Quebec, joined the Canadian Premier League aspect in July 2022.

The 22-year-old signed a contract to play by the 2023 season with a membership choice in 2024.
