Canadian singer-songwriter Shirley Eikhard, whose flirty monitor “Something to Talk About” gave Bonnie Raitt her largest hit and a Grammy Award win, has died after a battle with most cancers.

Eikhard, born in Sackville, N.B., acquired her first style of success in her early teenagers when Anne Murray recorded her 1971 monitor “It Takes Time,” making it a Canadian chart hit.
