Blue Jays showing interest in veteran Nelson Cruz

The Toronto Blue Jays have proven curiosity in veteran free agent Nelson Cruz, per Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith.

Cruz, 43, was designated for project by the San Diego Padres earlier this month after posting a .245/.283/.399 slash line in 49 video games with the crew. At this level in his profession, Cruz is strictly a chosen hitter. He has solely performed one inning defensively this season, at first base, and hasn’t performed within the outfield since 2018.
