Lake Louise ski resort reopens for the summer after ‘Chucktown’ fire | 24CA News
The ski resort at Lake Louise reopened for the summer season on Monday after a hearth at a beloved workers residence displaced a whole lot on July 3.
At round midday on July 3, Lake Louise RCMP and native hearth departments responded to studies of a fireplace and a person standing on the roof in misery on the Charleston Residence — nicknamed “Chucktown” by residents.
The residence, which housed round 200 workers, was evacuated quickly after.
Later that day, police stated they charged a person with arson following the hearth.
Timothy Alexander Peterson, 40, of Lake Louise was charged with arson and possession of a weapon.
On Monday, Lake Louise Ski Resort and Gondola introduced it has reopened for the summer season. The sightseeing gondola is open, together with the Wildlife Interpretive Centre and a few eating places. The resort’s reward store and daycare service can be open.
“We are incredibly relieved that all 173 residents are safe and without injuries, and we are deeply committed to their wellbeing. Swift action led to financial aid, short-term accommodations, meals, transportation, counseling services, and assistance with document replacement for those affected,” learn an announcement on the resort’s web site.
“Thank you all for your patience, support, and understanding. Lake Louise is more than a destination — it’s a community, one that we are proud to be a part of. We are excited to invite you back for a memorable summer season as we move forward, together.”
