Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase withdraws from All-Star Game

CLEVELAND (AP) — Guardians nearer Emmanuel Clase has withdrawn from subsequent week’s All-Star Game so as to spend time together with his pregnant girlfriend within the Dominican Republic.

Clase was named to his second straight American League All-Star staff. He won’t take part in actions associated to the sport in Seattle.

The 25-year-old right-hander is tied for first within the main leagues with 42 appearances and ranks fourth with 24 saves.

“His significant other is pregnant and it’s challenging,” Cleveland supervisor Terry Francona stated Friday. “He needs to get back to her, which we fully support.”

Clase, who leads baseball with a career-high seven blown saves, will stay with the Guardians via Sunday’s house sequence finale towards Kansas City.

Clase struck out all three batters he confronted within the 2022 All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium, incomes the save in a 3-2 American League victory.
