Canada to provide 5M to repair Kyiv’s power grid amid Russian strikes – National | 24CA News

Canada will switch $115 million to restore Kyiv’s energy grid after repeated Russian assaults towards Ukraine’s power infrastructure, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland stated on Tuesday.

The cash will come from tariff revenues collected on imports from Russia and Belarus, Freeland stated on the Standing with the Ukrainian People convention in Paris.

“Putin and his henchmen are war criminals, and they are attempting to use the cold as a weapon to break the spirit of the remarkable people of Ukraine,” Freeland stated.

The help from Canada “will help ensure that Ukraine can secure its energy infrastructure and make it through the difficult winter to come,” she added.

The Group of Seven wealthy nations stated on Monday they might arrange a multi-agency platform to coordinate support to Ukraine and help its restore, restoration and reconstruction.
