More travellers flying to Canada or the U.S. by means of the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) throughout the busy vacation season can now benefit from a program to “skip the line at security.”
The airport authority says the ‘YVR Express’ program, which launched in October for flights to the U.S. solely, will broaden Tuesday to incorporate locations in Canada.
Under this system, air passengers can reserve a selected timeslot to undergo safety screening as much as 72 hours earlier than their flight.
Once the appointment time has been scheduled, the airport mentioned the passenger will obtain a QR code through electronic mail.
Travellers can then arrive on the airport, examine their luggage and stroll to the safety checkpoint inside quarter-hour of their reservation time.

The system at the moment applies to home flights scheduled between 8 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. and U.S. flights between 6:30 a.m. and eight:30 p.m.
The airport authority mentioned it plans to roll this system out to worldwide flights within the “coming months.”
