The demise toll from the heavy floods that hit Haiti over the weekend has risen to 42, with one other 11 individuals lacking, authorities stated Monday.
At least 85 persons are injured, and greater than 13,600 properties have been flooded, forcing individuals to evacuate, in keeping with Haiti’s Civil Protection Agency.
The rains pelted Haiti’s western, northwestern, southeastern and central areas, officers stated.
The climate has since improved, however many crops have been broken amid a spike in hunger, and persons are looking for momentary shelters after the rain turned roads into dashing rivers of brown water.
The World Food Program stated tens of hundreds of individuals have been affected, with the best injury reported in Port-au-Prince’s metropolitan space and in Haiti’s western area.
“A significant weather-induced event of this level so early in the hurricane season raises concerns about the ability to provide a sustained response should extreme weather incidents continue to occur,” the company warned.
Prime Minister Ariel Henry has stated he has requested for worldwide assist.
