New rehab contract for veterans given failing grade by union. Why? – National | 24CA News

A union representing staff at Veterans Affairs Canada says a deal to denationalise rehabilitation providers has been a failure.

The $570-million contract with Lifemark Health Group and WCG International Consultants was presupposed to take the pressure off case managers and assist veterans entry providers.

But the Union of Veterans’ Affairs Employees has given the deal a failing grade in a brand new report card, issued six months after the contract kicked in.

It says as an alternative of streamlined providers, case managers are coping with extra paperwork.

The report card says solely the least advanced recordsdata have truly been transferred and delays in getting began have led to backlogs for veterans.

The union is pointing the finger at a scarcity of coaching in Veterans Affairs Canada’s tips, in addition to a lack of awareness of what the purchasers want.
