Union gives failing grade to companies handling veterans rehabilitation contract

OTTAWA –


A union representing employees at Veterans Affairs Canada says a deal to denationalise rehabilitation providers has been a failure.


The $570-million contract with Lifemark Health Group and WCG International Consultants was presupposed to take the pressure off case managers and assist veterans entry providers.


But the Union of Veterans’ Affairs Employees has given the deal a failing grade in a brand new report card, issued six months after the contract kicked in.


It says as a substitute of streamlined providers, case managers are coping with extra paperwork.


The report card says solely the least complicated information have really been transferred and delays in getting began have led to backlogs for veterans.


The union is pointing the finger at a scarcity of coaching in Veterans Affairs Canada’s tips, in addition to a lack of information of what the shoppers want.
