SIU clears OPP officer in miscarriage suffered by Quinte West woman – Kingston | 24CA News
The Special Investigations Unit has cleared Quinte West OPP of any wrongdoing in reference to a miscarriage suffered by a 24-year-old girl who was arrested in August.
The SIU says that on Aug. 9, OPP have been dispatched to a house in Quinte West after experiences of a home disturbance between the 24-year-old girl and her accomplice.
By the time police arrived, the lady had left on foot, however returned a short while later after a good friend received in contact along with her to say the police needed to verify her wellbeing.

Once police have been in a position to meet with the lady, they realized she was needed for an unrelated matter and advised her she could be positioned beneath arrest.
According to the SIU, the lady then fled police however was rapidly detained and handcuffed and dropped at the police station.
The SIU says that based mostly on hospital data, there isn’t any indication the miscarriage suffered by the lady was associated to the incident.
“There were no reasonable grounds to conclude that any such miscarriage was attributable to unlawful conduct on the part of the officers involved in her arrest,” an SIU news launch acknowledged.
“There was no basis for proceeding with criminal charges in this case and the file has been closed.”
