Cubs’ Stroman marks start of Pride Month with donations to three charities
Chicago Cubs starter Marcus Stroman celebrated the beginning of Pride Month by saying he could be making donations to charities empowering the LGTBQIA+ neighborhood in every of the three cities he has performed in.
“My career has afforded me the ability to support causes that are near and dear to me and those around me,” Stroman wrote in a press release. “It is my hope that my contribution will further the ongoing efforts of the LQTBQIA+ community in raising awareness, combating discrimination, and helping to celebrate diversity and inclusion.”

The three charities Stroman is donating to are Brave Space Alliance in Chicago, Hetrick-Martin Institute in New York and The 519 in Toronto.
Brave Space Alliance is the primary Black-led, trans-led LGBTQ+ Center situated on the South Side of Chicago. The group says on its web site that it strives “to empower, embolden, and educate each other through mutual aid, knowledge-sharing, and the creation of community-sourced resources as we build toward the liberation of all oppressed peoples.”
Founded in 1979, the Hetrick-Martin Institue gives free psychological well being and wellness providers and programming in 38 states throughout the U.S. “We are developing a dynamic network of service providers in other youth serving organizations and advocating for an expanded view of care interventions with funders,” the group says on its web site.
Founded in 1976, The 519 gives meals and different providers to probably the most weak members of the 2SLGBTQ+ in Toronto and surrounding areas. “We strive to make a real difference in people’s lives, while working to promote inclusion, understanding and respect,” the group says on its web site.
