Supportive housing group in Guelph credits city donation match for fundraising boost – Guelph | 24CA News
A pair of native organizations are praising the City of Guelph’s dedication for matching donations in an effort to assist increase cash for a capital fundraising marketing campaign within the southwestern Ontario group.
The Guelph Community Foundation and the United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin introduced on Tuesday that they’ve surpassed the $1.5 million mark of their Home for Good marketing campaign. The City pledged again in July 2022 to match every donation as much as $500,000.
“We did have a lot of people that came forward to donate who were inspired by that opportunity to double their impact,” mentioned Glenna Banda, govt director of UWGWD. “The City of Guelph match really helped but there is still a lot of fundraising to do.”
The general fundraising objective of Home for Good is $5 million. Banda mentioned they’ve to date raised near $2 million.
Chris Willard, govt director of The Guelph Community Foundation, mentioned in an announcement, “The early awareness resulted in several donations of all shapes and sizes, reinforced the urgency of the homelessness crisis and the Guelph Wellington community’s commitment to funding solutions.”
